I found this beautiful nest while hiking in May 2014 at Sapsucker woods. It looks like a cowbird decided to lay her egg in the bluebird egg nest. (I’m pretty sure these are bluebird eggs.)
Species: Brown-headed Cowbird
Beautiful!
Very cool!
Very beautiful picture.
I would go out on a limb (pun intended) and say that they are American Robin eggs (with one cowbird egg). Bluebirds typically nest in holes in trees, or nest boxes, and this is consistent with the type of nest a robin builds. Still beautiful eggs, though!
I agree completely!
