Description

This adult mockingbird had a chick in a shrub in my yard. Unfortunately, this racer decided to crawl through my lawn. The adult bird pounced, pecked and harassed it, until it went into hiding.

  1. Maya says:

Nesting Mockingbirds in our front yard this summer gave the neighbor’s overly curious cat a run for his money. After they finished with him, he hasn’t returned and that was weeks ago. They screamed at him and dive-bombed him until he ran for cover. Their chicks have fledged now and Mom and Dad seem to be settled in for the season. At least Dad is, he sings, and sings, and sings, and sings some more. They ain’t ‘fraid a no pussy cat! Central Florida Mockingbirds are really brave.

  2. Texas Bird Family says:

We’ve seen Mockingbird attack cats, mockingbirds, and hawks. They make a hissing sound to chase other males out of their territory.
