Eastern baby bluebirds, 8 days old on April 13, 2016. All 5 of these babies fledged the nest by 6pm on April 21, 2016. So exciting to watch them fledge! Only problem is that I have empty nest syndrome now, but am so happy for the male and female to have all of their hard work pay off. Hopefully they will be back to start a second brood this season, I did see them at the Nestbox for a brief moment yesterday, fingers crossed!
Isn’t it exciting that all 5 babies successfully fledged!! I’m wondering if you have been blessed with a second brood? I expect to have five babies fledge in the next 2 weeks.

I have been blessed with a second brood! They are two days old today. I have also been blessed to have these babies from the first brood come back and sleep in a tree I planted especially for the bluebirds(about 30ft from the opening of the Nestbox) I have been offering the parents live wax worms with a calcium supplement since these babies were born but they would not accept, so I was delighted when the male brought them back two weeks after they fledged and they do eat the wax worms. The male has recently started to take the worms as well to feed the female and the new babies.
I’m assuming your five have fledged by now, hopefully all went well. I worry so much about these amazing creatures.
I have some baby bluebirds, two weeks old! First time to have bluebirds. I’ve had great crested flycatchers, and of course the common house wren, but first time bluebirds!
