Description

This is a breeding American Goldfinch. Of course it turned it’s head just as I took the shot, so I don’t know if it’s a male or female. My husband saw three goldfinches together ~ two pale ones and a bright one. I am excited to have them in my yard as they winter here in Vermont.

Hey Paula! The one in your picture is a male American goldfinch. The pale ones you described are most likely the females.

Thanks Kylie..I hope to get a much better picture of him..he’s so handsome. Did you decide on a new camera yet? I really like the 60x zoom on my Panasonic.

Yes! I now have a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with a 75 to 300mm zoom lens. I love the camera, great for long range birding and wildlife photography. Perfect for an intermediate birder like myself.

Awesome ~ can’t wait to see your pics!
