Description

I was lucky enough to catch this turkey vulture as he was soaring in a thermal with the sun to his back. The resulting beautiful golden hue through his spread wings is simply stunning.

Hey, looks like a Turkey Vulture. Check out the difference in the under-wing pattern: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Turkey_Vulture/id. Osprey have a dark trailing edge.

I believe you’re correct Robyn. Good call! When I photographed this bird, I was near an osprey platform at Kensington Metropark and I ‘assumed’ it must have been an osprey. I need to pay closer attention!

I agree. shape of beak and head makes me think of T. Vulture.
