Today ia saw 3 little birds, probably Carolina wrens fluttering in my garden. A mother bird would occasionally bring them food. They were cheeping and trying to fly around. I was nervous a cat might find them. Finally I watched one bird finding its way to its nest in the hedge.

Hi Miriam, Those sound like fledglings – meaning they had already left the nest. Birds are not able to fly strongly when they first leave the nest, so they often appear to be hopping around while they strengthen their wings. It’s great to hear they were able to find the hedge, which is likely where they will take cover until they are able to fly better.
