Today we saw this baby Mourning Dove with a badly deformed beak. It tried to eat but the milo and corn were too big. Will it be able to live like this? The other doves were chasing it and being mean.
Cool! In the
Pileated Woodpecker nest plan, could you do curve cuts so the chicks could climb out? The nest plan says to put hardware cloth on the front of the box.
I’ve never looked at the Pileated Woodpecker plan due to I never see them in my neighborhood. The main thing with all nestboxes is just to make sure that the chicks can get out. Pileated Woodpeckers are crow-sized so I would assume that their box would have to be big. So a large box would need a cloth/fledgling ladder for the chicks to get out. Small boxes don’t really need that since the chicks could climb out easily.

It could survive.
