Can anyone tell me if the speckled egg is a house sparrow egg? And if so, do bluebirds and house sparrows typically lay eggs together?
I believe it is a cowbird egg. Cowbirds will lay their eggs in other bird nests, leaving the host bird to raise their young.
I had a cow bird hatch with my wrens! It was huge in comparison to the wrens! It developed much quicker and fledged quickly as well.
