    This website would be more useful if you collect dates for when the pictures are taken.
    I am trying to decide good dates for pruning shrubs and trees, to be the least disruptive to birds nests.

      Hi Steve, You can view the specific breeding times of different bird species by using our Common Nesting Birds tool here (check out the “When to look” section). In general, however, it all depends on where you live. In the southern US, breeding season has already begun, but in the northern US and Canada, you may have a few weeks yet. The breeding season generally tapers off towards August and beyond, though you’ll want to be extra sure you’ve examined the areas fully before trimming. Once a nest contains eggs or young, it is protected by federal law. Thanks for your concern for your local birds!
