Fox Snake And European Starling Chick

Fox Snake in Purple Martin T-14 compartment. This snake gained entry either by dropping from overhead tree or climbing post (no baffle).

    As much as I hate to see this in action, I do think the fox snake is a beautiful native snake. Many people mistake them for a copperhead, or a rattlesnake (they may rattle their tails if alarmed), but they are harmless to people. In fact, they eat far more rodents than birds.

    At least it is a European Starling and not a Purple Martin!

    Poor starling. We like starlings. They are very colorful.
