Description

Scrub-jays figured out how to get the eggs in my old eavebox design so I built a new one that is jay-proof and so far it works. Can’t wait till the finches eggs hatch.

Interesting design! Would you be willing to share the plans with us? Fingers crossed they are successful!

I don’t have any plans for the eavebox right now because I made it out of random wood scraps I had. I can once the birds fledge, take the box down and write down the plans/dimensions for it on a piece of paper. And email it or post a picture of it once it’s done.

Thanks, Ethan. While House Finches don’t technically need a box, I’m sure there are many people who would like to offer them a safer place to nest, especially with predatory birds figuring out the commonly-used places. You can email us any details at nestwatch@cornell.edu. Cheers!
