Description

This female dove came to the feeder and birdbath. She has a fairly deep wound but acts normal. Does anyone have any idea what those yellow and orange balls in her wound are?

    Don’t think so.

I found out whats found with the dove! Her crop is badly torn. Whenever she eats seeds fall out of the wound. The orange things are old seeds in her crop. Hopefully, we can catch her and get her some help.

Sorry, I meant wrong. Not found.

Were you able to capture and help this Dove? I also would have been broken hearted at this sight. Probably almost impossible to catch this poor bird.

No, sadly we were not able to catch her. Her wound did get better, she stopped leaking. We have not seen her a while.

We had another dove, a male. With a deep wound in his belly. We came so close to catching him. He couldn’t fly or walk very well. The last we saw him we were trying to catch him and he flew to the fence and hopped into the neighbor’s yard. We never saw him again. It’s sad because I really liked him. He was so friendly towards me, landing right by me on the fence.
