Description

We found this nest in one of the 12 nest boxes in the Dixon Meadow Preserve when we cleaned out
the boxes. We wondered if it was a mouse nest or possibly a bird’s winter roosting nest. We did have bluebirds who stayed around all winter. There is a baffle on the pole.

Consider a flying squirrel? depending on distance to launch sites. Definitely a rodent, not a bird.

  2. Robyn Bailey says:

I agree that it’s a rodent nest. I’ve had mice somehow get past my baffles and create nests similar to this.
