Hi Gerald, This bird is a European Starling. Please note the long, bright yellow beak and iridescent feathers on its back. Purple martins are smaller, differently shaped birds and have smaller, black beaks. For more information on the differences, please visit our All About Birds pages here for Purple Martin (https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/purple_martin) and European Starling (https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/European_Starling).

Thank you for the info. My id was from various pictures on the web and were probably marked wrong and led me to believe they were purple martins. I have another bird house in the garage that I need to modify for next year.
