Hmm…interesting thought about the “mock tail.” I’ve never heard of them doing that, but it’s a good hypothesis.
I’ve never heard about the “mock tail” either. However, I have had several Robins leave a piece of grass or feather sticking up in the nest that looks a lot like a tail.
