Description
We used a GoPro camera tethered to a pool pole to check out this humming bird nest. We had observed it being built, and estimate it was completed on/about 25-Jul when the bird’s activity slowed considerably and the bird appeared to “sit” more.

Ruby-throated Humming Bird Nest
Oh my gosh!!! That is how I check nests too high for me to see from the ground!!!!! I mount my GoPro to an extension pole that I bought. I ❤️ LOVE ❤️ hummingbirds, it is so exciting that Ruby-Throats are still nesting!!! Keep us updated!!! I’ve been DYING to NestWatch a hummingbird nest but all the hummers left early in the season because I let the sugar water get spoiled. 😢 However, now I’ve learned my lesson and next year, I’m making a Hummingbird Haven!
What type of GoPro do you have?
I have GoPro Hero8 (Black).
I love that you can choose a video and download frames from the video to make a photo. The photos are really good quality too, and with the right accessories kit, you can mount the camera to almost anything!!!
I once mounted a GoPro on an 8ft fishing rod to see inside of a Brazilian kiskadee nest. 😂
