Built my first nesting box and have a visitor already. An American Robin has decided my nesting box is a suitable and safe place to lay her pretty blue eggs.

    Hi Melissa,
    These are certainly very pretty eggs! Though, it’s uncommon for American Robins to nest in nest boxes. It is more likely to be an Eastern Bluebird nest, which have similarly colored eggs and are frequent cavity-nesters.
    If you’ve indeed seen the Robins in or near the nest, it would be a very special photo opportunity and we would love to see this rare behavior!

      You are absolutely right…after watching the nest the day after I took this picture, I saw a pair of bluebirds tending to it. There are now five eggs and the female has begun to sit on them throughout the day. Hope to have new editions very soon!
