    Could be a Mourning Dove’s eggshell. http://nestwatch.org/learn/focal-species/mourning-dove/. Most birds will carry the eggshells away from the nest so that predators won’t be able to look up and see their nest if they happen to find the eggshell. The nest is probably somewhere in your yard, or nearby.
