Downy Woodpecker Nest

A female Downy Woodpecker takes off from her nest to find more food. The Downy Woodpecker parents would show up every few minutes. You could hear the peeping from the nestlings when the parents showed up.

Downy Hug

Baby downy was following her mother all around the back yard, begging for food. In this photo, the angle of the shot makes it look like the two are in an embrace at the feeding. Of course, I am being anthropomorphic in saying so, yet I like to think the care these birds take with their young resembles affection.
