Shut the front door?

Wondering what’s going on here… A pair of Oak Titmice built their nest here a few days ago, and I saw them going in and out this morning. I noticed this afternoon that the door was blocked by some nesting material (i think?). Wondering if they did this to keep out other interested house hunters, and if anyone is familiar with this behavior? I did see a sparrow perched on the hole yesterday, looking longingly inside.

storms coming time for more insulation

I brushed my dog and left her fur out on the front porch. Everything I left was collected by the birds.
