Out West Birds(Part 2)

The first photo is Jackson, Wyoming.

Osprey

Common loon/osprey.

Not a good year!

This years pair fought off another pair. A total of 9 nine eggs were laid this year.
No one hatched due the the fighting of the pair as they both were unable to incubate the eggs.

Osprey

I got this from a live cam but I wanted to share it.
Make sure to check out my other Osprey pictures.

Osprey

Osprey with moss

This osprey was carrying a long strip of spanish moss to its nest. I estimate the strip to be 5 feet long.

Warbler Galore! (Big Birding Day Part 2)

Sorry for the not-so-great pictures. Aside from the three kinds of warblers, I saw a European Starling, two Ospreys, robins, crows, Tree Swallows, Black-capped Chickadees, Downy Woodpeckers, and White-breasted Nuthatches.

Big Birding Day (Part 1)

New Osprey nest

The Idlewilde Civic League appropriated funds to have a new pole and nest installed to replace the old pole and nest that were both disintegrating. I built the nest from plans that I downloaded from your website and added a perch on top.

Young Osprey with parents

This is a human-built Osprey nest near Dunrobin, Ontario. At least one nesting pair of adults appears here most years. Here are the parents with single offspring earlier this month.

Bald Eagle and Osprey nests

As described above.

Birds of Prey first of 2015 season nests in Silverthorne, Colorado

Dare to mess with my nest??

She was sitting on her nest with eggs in it the male came and gave her fish once in a while.

Osprey Nest

Nests, Nests, Nests

I have been visiting Ballston Creek Preserve now for weeks…it started with lots of Heron nests and now there are so many babies. There was a Great Horned Owl and baby who fledged after my second visit. The Osprey sit high above and call out their warning sign as I get to the end of the path – no babies there yet. The Hairy Woodpecker I just happened upon while watching the others. Whoever says you have to go far from home to see beauty? All this in one spot! Totally enchanting!
