A turkey vulture perched on top of the dead trunk of a sycamore tree in the morning sun, apparently drying off and warming up from the heavy rains of the previous day and evening. The trunk is hollow and is the home of a family of acorn woodpeckers, who could be heard off in the distance, waiting for the vulture to leave.
after a hard freeze and snow in east texas this buzzard was sunbathing on my fence spreading his wings to get warm.
Woke up early this morning to see this turkey vulture in my backyard. Yikes
These turkey vultures landed in my pasture to before dark.
I was lucky enough to catch this turkey vulture as he was soaring in a thermal with the sun to his back. The resulting beautiful golden hue through his spread wings is simply stunning.
