The Killdeer eggs have hatched!
The Killdeer eggs have hatched! Before we only saw the mother but today we saw both the mother and father. All four eggs hatched. The photos aren’t that good because they were running around. There was a black snake in the water so I hope it doesn’t get the babies! They are still a bit wobbly.
6 Carolina Chickadee Nestlings!
All 6 of the Carolina Chickadee nestlings finally hatched! Mr. and Mrs. Chickadee are working very hard to feed and raise their young. One day very soon, those little nestlings will grow into happy, cheerful Carolina Chickadees just like their parents. Welcome to the world little ones!

The First Carolina Chickadee Nestling
When I visited the nest box to check on the Carolina Chickadee nest, I was surprised at what I saw. The first Carolina Chickadee nestling hatched! I was so filled with joy that the first little Chickadee nestling finally made it’s way out the shell. Welcome to the world little Chickadee! Now to wait for it’s siblings to hatch too.

Carolina Wren Babies
Our “Workshop Nest” built by the Carolina Wren contained two beautiful little eggs, which we were pleased to observe as successfully hatched today (Easter Sunday)!
Babies one week after hatching
The parents of these three birds had laid 5 eggs; two of which were lost when a house wren pilfered the nest two days before the hatch. These babies hatched in spite of the fact that one of the remaining eggs was cracked.
Eastern Phoebe Babies
We’ve been monitoring a nest with five small Eastern Phoebe eggs, who recently hatched!
Some phoebes hatch at the eastern phoebe nest.
Those phoebes are on top of an unhatched egg.
Hatched-3 Northern Cardinals
3 little Northern Cardinals, freshly hatched in a thorny bush right outside our front door, just in time for Mother’s Day.
