Leucistic House Sparrows

I have two leucistic House Sparrows in my flock. Both are shown in this photo. One has a part white feather on its wing and the other has a white tail feather. Both have been visiting for months.

RARE Yellow House Finch!

I was looking at the finches when I noticed this rare yellow House Finch! This is the second time that I have seen a bird like this.

Rare Yellow-rumped Audubon’s Warbler?

This strange yellow-rumped warbler came to eat peanut butter this morning. It was silver, it had the normal yellow-rumped warbler markings, but no yellow rump! Is this an Audubon’s subspecies, a Mytrle x Audubon’s hybrid, or just a normal myrtle yellow rump? Any ideas?

*Rare* leucistic female cardinal

Excited to see my first leucistic cardinal!

Bluebirds nesting in the Crepe Myrtle

In 2011, this nest of Eastern Bluebirds was found in my Crepe Myrtle tree. After seeing the recent article in the NABS “Bluebird Journal” of Fall 2017 (vol. 39, no.4) reprinted from the NestWatch blog, I decided to share my photos from 2011. I didn’t see the nest being built, but it was finished when I saw it, and the bluebirds were the only ones I saw at the nest. It looks, to me, as if the nest material is, indeed, a bluebird-selected material.
