Unfortunately we had a Brown-headed Cowbird to lay her egg in our Prothonotary Warbler nest box.The warblers have renested and we will keep checking those eggs to make sure it does not happen again.

  1. Hi Margaret, Brown-headed Cowbirds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and it is illegal to remove their eggs from the host nest. You can read more @ http://nestwatch.org/learn/general-bird-nest-info/brown-headed-cowbirds/.

Cute photo! Thanks for participating in Home Tweet Home.

What a cute baby cowbird. Please don’t destroy their eggs. It’s illegal and cruel.
