Baby Wood Duck

On arriving home, I noticed three baby wood ducks in our pool. Mom quickly left, along with two of the babies, but this one was left swimming around for several hours.

I saw these three while kayaking our lake. Mama duck called, and they came out of the reeds to join her.

Wood Duck in a Screech Owl nest box

This Wood Duck hen made a comfortable nest within my Screech Owl box. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box hoping to find a little owl.

Happy Family

Came home to find on our pond that a mother Hooded merganser duck was raising this mixed family. 7 ducklings are wood ducklings and 4 are Hooded merganser ducklings. They are so cute.
