Can I delete my NestWatch account?

Yes, though we do not recommend doing so.

This process will also delete your account across ALL Cornell Lab services that you may use (e.g., eBird, Merlin, Bird Academy, FeederWatch, etc.), not just NestWatch.

When you delete your account, your name and personal information are deleted along with your account details. Your nest data remain in our database but are stripped of any personal identifying information. Please note that account deletion is permanent; you will not be able to recover the data you collected, nor will we be able to revive it to link back to you someday in the future (again, because the identifying information is stripped away).

We retain your nest data because we use data for scientific purposes and the data are now part of the collective history of nesting birds. It’s important not to erase historical data unless absolutely necessary.

If you’d like to go ahead with deleting your account, you can do so from your account page. During the process, be sure to read each warning message fully.
