Scaling Up Conservation to the Community Level
Building safe and healthy communities for both birds and people has never been more necessary, but it doesn’t happen by chance. It happens when we join forces to identify a need, share resources to accomplish a goal, and communicate the successes—and challenges—with the broader community. Read our thoughts on how to scale up your NestWatching efforts to the community level on this month’s blog.
App Update: Now Available in Brazilian Portuguese
In addition to several bug fixes, our latest mobile app update includes an exciting new feature. We have added Brazilian Portuguese as a language option (available only on the app at this time, website to follow). They Nested Where?!
Sometimes, birds build their nests in surprising locations. Get tips for how to deal with inconvenient nests with this NestWatch FAQ.
NestWatch Tip of the Month
This one’s for all of our mobile app users who are fairly new to NestWatch. If you’re looking for a way to delete or rename a nest site, download your records, split a nest attempt into two attempts, or delete photos, you can do all of this and more on our website. If you don’t see a data management feature you’re looking for on the app, head over to NestWatch.org to find more options.

Black Vulture Nestlings
Submission of the Month
Duane Schmidt of Maryland got a surprise when this duo of Black Vulture chicks was found in an infrequently used barn. Black Vultures don’t make a nest and will lay their eggs on the ground. Seldom-used outbuildings are a common location in which to find them. Want a chance to be featured? Be sure to submit photos with your nest visit data!
