Helpful Tips

  • Typical habitat is mesquite and willow thickets along riparian corridors (mesquite bosques preferred).
  • Lucy's Warblers typically nest in natural cavities, and do not have a long history of using nest boxes, as does the Prothonotary Warbler. Nest boxes for Lucy's Warblers are therefore considered experimental. Tucson Audubon is piloting a project to determine if the species responds well to nest boxes, and has had some early success with the design featured here.
