Helpful Tips

  • Although Say's Phoebes are less likely to nest on artificial nest shelves than their Eastern counterparts, a well-placed shelf may attract these insect-eating birds away from problematic nest sites (e.g., on top of light fixtures).
  • For best results, place the shelf on a building under an eave or overhang.
  • Phoebes may reuse old nests within and between years. Remove old nest if parasites are a problem.
