I haven’t been seeing male hummingbirds since early July. We have a hummingbird nest, and we see the female hummer sitting on the nest, but we don’t see any males feeding.

The hummer activity picked up the end of July. I started seeing both a male and a female several times a day at the feeder and in the garden. It was slow start though. Good luck with those hummer babies!

    • Texas Bird Family says:

Only the female hummingbird feeds the babies, the males doesn’t help with the nest or young.

Why don’t I see males if we have a nest?

    • Texas Bird Family says:

The female hummer chases away any hummingbird that goes near her nest, sometimes the male will guard the nest but most times it’s just the female since hummingbirds don’t mate for life.

    Thanks!
