So sad that the House Wren destroyed the Tree Swallow eggs. Nature has her ways and they are not always pretty. But, the House Wren is trying to survive and by destroying the nearest competition, she/he is ensuring that there will be enough insects to feed their nestlings.
I feel bad for the Swallows, but like Donna said, the Wrens might have just been ensuring that their babies would have a better chance of surviving. During a period when there’s no nests you could try moving one of them farther from the other.
