Plovers don’t live in Texas at this time of year. It was most likely either a Spotted Sandpiper or a Solitary Sandpiper.
No, it wasn’t a Spotted or Solitary Sandpiper. Its beak was longer and it was gray, not brown.
eBird says that I have Black-bellied and Semipalmated Plovers here.
Yeah, sorry, you’re right.
It isn’t any of them though, their beaks are too small.
Could it have been a Willet?
We just visited today and they are non-breeding Greater Yellowlegs
