I bet they’re having fun in the pool!
They’ll probably just fly away.
I don’t think they can fly because it’s summer and ducks molt in summer. But people open the gate so they can get out because it’s a pool.
Interesting. I never knew they couldn’t fly while they were molting.

Yes, ducks have two main molting periods during the year, one in late winter/early spring and the other in mid-summer.
They looked sad because we were feeding the ducks and they couldn’t make it out to get the food. They swam across the pool to get to try to get the food. The drake almost choked himself by trying the squeeze through the gate because there was some stuff like chicken wire under the gate.
