WHAT IS IT? It was going to grackles (several times) a mockingbird and a blue jay trying get someone to feed it, no-one would 🙁 it makes sort of a ack-ack sound
How big was this little thing? I am guessing it is a jay and it was being taught to be independent. An “ack ack” sound seems likely to be a juvenile’s attempt at the jay’s cry. My guess is as good as anyone else’s, but I’m also going by the pattern on its wings.
Hi Cathy, It looks like a grackle fledgling to me. That is consistent with the fact that it was begging from grackles (perhaps not its own parents, though), and the unmusical “ack ack” sound. Unlike the adults, the chicks have brown irises.

It is a Mockingbird. Jays are not that color.
Common Grackle fledgling.
Weird.
