A selection of images of some of our backyard parents and their kids. The bluebirds had three clutches in a new house I built just for them after I noticed them interested in (but not buying) an older house I’d put up. The Tanagers were summer-long visitors to our feeders, which was a real treat, and the Broad-winged Hawk was one of three fledglings who seemed unafraid to use our birdbath during the summer heat.
Tanager nest with 3 nestlings. One appears to have a redder gape than the others. There is no obvious size or color difference.
We compiled a group of videos from 2019 of the beautiful Summer Tanagers that live in our area and come to visit. While it’s mainly videos of the males and their beautiful songs, a surprise guest makes an appearance in the end!
So lucky we had the Summer Tanagers nest in a tree where we were able to be able to see from the ground.

1st time I have ever seen Summer Tanagers at my house or anywhere for that matter. Such beautiful birds and a beautiful song as well Adults with young would love to have found the nest.

I was lucky enough to get this shot of a Summer Tanager on our back deck. I have never seen one so this was a lovely treat!
